Who’s guarding the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album? It has a release date of May 9 and it’s nowhere to be found. Doesn’t look like it’s going to leak until Monday, (that may only be a low bit rate copy) and at that point it’ll be streaming on VH1’s site anyway. WTF, mate?

Same with the new Walkmen — that should be all over the googleweb by now. And why hasn’t anyone sent me their track “Another One Goes By” yet? It’s available on iTunes. I’ll trade you two new RHCP b-sides (”Whatever We Want” and “Lately”) for that one. I’d download it myself but I’m too much of a snob to have crap like iTunes on my hard drive. I’m serious. I was recently asked by Got Detroit to write a weekly something-or-other about music-type-events in Detroit. Since doing that on this site would further bore the shit out of any Web Vomit readers not from the area, I decided it was an acceptable idea. I also decided to make it sort of a “Go Do Something 101” beginner course for people not already familiar with . . . ugh, “the scene.” The goal is to make this something different than what I already do here and what the boys of Motor City Rocks do. You suburb monkeys who know things happen around here, but don’t know how to join in — you’re my target audience.
Chances are I’m a one-trick pony and will soon be submitting photos of Jessica Alba as my column, but until then you should be able to check it out every Thursday starting next week. The first one will be up later today. It was slightly rushed so I didn’t have time to mention The Sights will be playing Small’s tonight. Alcoholics, I’ll see you there.
