Not satisfied with selling-out gigs in the States, The Hard Lessons pwned Europe this month, out-performing every band they played with (I’m educated guessing). They’re back in the US now, for those of you who still haven’t seen them, and were invited to play one of the final CBGB shows evor, next week. Current tour dates, yo.

And check out photos from their performance at the Thunderbirds Are Now! CD release party last Saturday.

Calp Your Hands Shit Your Pants - “Some Loud Thunder” (live)
From the Clap Your Hands Shit Your Pants / Architecture In Helsinki / Takka Takka  U.S. Fall Tour EP

The Blood Brothers - “Laser Life”
Some people can’t hear the pop-brilliance in The Blood Brothers’ screaming. Some people are stupid. This is from their new album, Young Machetes, due out October 10. I love this song. Pre-order the album for ten bucks.

The Walkmen - “Subterranean Homesick Blues”
From their complete cover of the John Lennon / Harry Nilsson / Some Other People album, Pussy Cats — released October 24 in the real world, or a few days ago in my special world.

Blowjob story about the building
This building keeps taunting me. If had the money, I would have snatched it up a couple years ago. I have ideas. Brilliant, brilliant ideas. But no cash. Hell, I even have a staff ready-to-go. Arrrgggh…when is someone going to buy me this fucking building? Why don’t any of my readers have money to invest in this? It’s a goddamn castle. Like you’ve never wanted to own a goddamn castle? Fuck!

“I’m going to put this into NASCAR language so you understand: All you have to do is turn left.  So why do you keep turning right?”
-Dick Valentine, Electric Six

Aberdeen City was good.  Good enough that you should be downloading their album right now.

it was an average Electric Six show, which means it was fucking great.  they rocked my ass off.  i even got Dick sweat on my face.  it was truly great.

the new songs sounded good.  unfortunately, no Infected Girls, but Night Vision was awesome.  speaking of new songs, remember to watch for the clapping during Rubber Rocket.  all the cool kids will know what to do.

the highlight was when a kid from the crowd climbed up on stage and started dancing in the middle of Rock And Roll Evacuation.  normally, when i see a kid do that, he’s up there for 10, maybe 15 seconds, and then he jumps back in the crowd.  this kid was up there for a good two minutes, flailing around and humping the microphone stand and making everyone a little uncomfortable.  at the end of the song, Dick gave him a big hug and then dragged him over to the side and threw him off the stage.  apparently all those push ups and leg lifts are paying off, cause he hurled that kid like a rag doll.

i left the show with the following: Aberdeen City set list, drum stick, album, ep, record, stickers, Electric Six set list, album, poster, tshirt, stickers, and love.  all for only $50.  the lovin alone was worth that.

it was the best Monday night show in September, ever.

Here’s a few tracks you didn’t ask for and don’t want. Anyone have either of The Datsuns’ System Overload b-sides, released today? I’ll trade you my lunch for them. Vegetarian liver. Mmmm.

The Rapture - Crimson Red [Get Myself Into It b-side]
Dirty Pretty Things - No Signal No Battery (demo) [Wondering b-side]
Franz Ferdinand - Swallow Smile [Fanclub 7" single]
Kasabian - Black Whistler [Empire b-side]

Update: Because it’s been so long since my last Cease & Desist, and because I’m so excited someone left me a comment, here’s the other two Dirty Pretty Things tracks:
Dirty Pretty Things - Chinese Dogs (demo) [Wondering 7"] (can anyone confirm that ending?)
Dirty Pretty Things - Last of the Small Town Playboys (live) [Wondering 7"]
