Some details of The Go’s performance Friday night at the Lager House can be found on Brian Wilson’s Ben Blackwell’s blog. I didn’t make a big deal about it beforehand, because I knew it was going to be insanely crowded and didn’t want you going too, but The Go is one of my all-time favorite bands ever in the universe. It felt so fucking good to see these guys on stage again, and they sounded as tight as ever. Their third (or fifth, depending on whether you count Supercuts or Free Electricity) album will be released, I’m assuming, sometime around the April 21 release party at the Stick. There may even be room for you this time. Seriously, can anyone remember the last time that many people were in the Lager House?
This made my weekend: new White Stripes album. The Raconteurs are great and all, but you never forget your first love. I’m talking about mine, not Jack’s. UPDATE: Ok, the link is dead, the article taken down. Was it a hoax? NME does make up half its news, but WTF? Here’s a screenshot.
I was going to live-blog every second of Arcade Fire’s performance on Saturday Night Live, complete with stills for every frame of video that was broadcast, but then the drugs wore off and I came to my senses. Unfortunately the rest of the interworld didn’t come to theirs. Arcade Fire has the potential to become one of those bands ruined by its following. Keep it up, indie-bloggers, let’s see if we can get Arcade Fire fans lumped into the same category as fans of The Dave Matthews Band.
BitTorrent.com, only because some of you retards buy things from iTunes do companies think they can take something that used to be free, lower the quality, add regulations, charge a fee and think that service will be successful. Someday there will be a special chapter in Human Evolution texts dedicated to the iParadox.
I spent my Sunday at work because I love my job or something. One benefit of being there on a weekend is that sometimes I can re-wire things without anyone noticing. I turned some vinyl into digital and will share a few tracks with you here…until someone tells me to take them down. Please note that I am not a professional analog-to-digital engineer, I just like to jam cords together until something happens. So go purchase the original records at the provided links.
