This is cool, but I’m curious if anyone reading this site normally buys RIAA albums? How many of you actually buy albums, and do you even check to see if they are RIAA material? Something tells me the only people news of this boycott is going to reach are those of us who already avoid giving cash to the RIAA. The real goal is educating the mouth-breathers who buy Carrie Underwood albums from Wal-Mart – but they aint gots no innernet.

To help promote awareness, from now on I’ll be labeling all of the “Must Steal” albums as RIAA if they are, in fact, RIAA releases. This means under no circumstances are you to pay actual money for Idlewild, Modest Mouse, LCD Soundsystem or The Good, The Bad, And The Queen music this year. Like the article says, buy a concert ticket or a t-shirt if you want to support these bands — they’ll actually see some of that money instead of it going toward lawsuits against four year-olds. To plagiarize a comment from that link, “Vote with your dollar. It’s the only political power you actually have.”
