Great weekend. Feel like garbage. Brain processing thoughts in short bursts between narcoleptic episodes. Like living on Twitter. All I can muster at the moment — a Zach Curd and Keith Thompson link: Desktop. Vinyl also comes with a floppy disk. Get it. I still have paint in my hair.

i found fucking awesome fest to not be a very fucking awesome festival. the set up was all quite nice, but the band line up was really weak. why the fuck do we keep having the same detroit cock stroke fest featuring mainly all detroit bands that we already see every month? how about throwing in a healthy portion of national bands? black diamond heavies, king khan, black lips, thee oh sees, holly golightly, cut in the hill gang, nobunny, the hexxers, jay reatard, reigning sound, langhorne slim, mr. airplane man, raveonettes, she & him, turbo fruits, cheap time, etc….why dont we open our rusty gates to the rest of the music world and play nice together?

^ to the anonymouse just about cash money guy:
Hi, welcome to Detroit, you must be new here!
^ to the anonymous indie band name dropper. ouch! you’re killin’ my feet with all those names you just dropped. you know who’s fucking awesome? you’re fucking awesome!
all those bands can play here any time. and usually do. go see them.
art brut played and how many people were watching them compared to how many were watching silverghost or LMCA?
If everyone who says they’d go see national acts actually went to see national acts maybe Detroit wouldn’t have the reputation of being such a terrible Sun-Thurs city.
Then maybe more bands would come here and like it here.
And then maybe venues wouldn’t have to jack up drink prices because every show they book is a gamble.
Then more people could afford to come out regularly.
Then venues could take more chances with more money.
Then this festival would be full of national acts.
Then I’d have to move out of town because there’d be nothing to complain about.
Just one possible scenario. Choose your own adventure.
Well my new guru Sunshine Superdowner called it early. Too much cheap beer and a free show can be better than a lot of cancellations and a barnyard crowd oinkoink.r
