In case you haven’t seen it, MetroTimes and LimeWire released a FREE compilation called Ear To The Ground: Detroit. It’s fucking free so don’t complain about it, just go get it (but if you have to register or do something dumb, let me know and I’ll sendspace a zip file). Off the top of my head, I know the Deastro track is a LimeWire exclusive and the Millions of Brazilians song is from their 7″ split with the Gay Blades that they had like six copies of. Other than those two details, I don’t have any other cool trivia but that’s not the point of this post.
Somehow I have a shitload of LimeWire credits but they expire at the end of the month. I know I’m going to regret asking this, but is there anything anyone needs me to liberate from their store while I still have access? I’m talking about their exclusive shit, like the Live at Lime sessions — don’t ask for normal shit because you’re too lazy to google it. If anyone has any serious requests in the next couple days, let me know. Otherwise, those credits will just go to waste.

Do any of those old services still work? Soulseek, Bearshare, Morpheus, Grokster, Audiogalaxy, WinMX - anything from the days of not knowing exactly what you are downloading, but hoping it wasn’t another snuff film?

Does it make me a bad person that I practically destroyed my parents’ computer downloading mystery files hoping that it was another snuff film. One time I lucked out and found one set to Berlioz’s “Royal Hunt and Storm” from “The Trojans”. Today my tie is handmade, pure silk, white with burgundy stripes, a Ludwig Am Dom Munchen.
Yeah, the only reason I know how to do computer things is because I’d routinely trash my parents computer and then have to rebuild it before they found out.
As for the snuff film…I was really young and hadn’t been desensitized to all of the internet yet. So watching someone get their throat slit actually made me nauseous.
Of course if I stumbled across that video today, I’d make a screen grab and caption it, “cut it out guyz u are killin me lol”.

I had to leave my office because I was laughing so much. The funny part is when someone asked me what was so funny I almost told them…..
Instead I showed them a vid of someone falling off of gym equipment that I conveniently have saved for situations like this.
Soul seek still works. I actually use it sometimes. That was always a pretty good site and i never found any viri on it.
I used to be a computer tech. Now google does the job for me and i get paid more then when i actually knew how to fix shit.
