There’s a show at the The Magic Stick on Saturday that you’re totally clueless about — in fact I’m puzzled as to who convinced them to play Detroit (and how?), but I’m grateful. Tigersapien. These dudes (?) popped up early this year, but always had masks or hoods on so nobody knew who they were. It was implied, at one point, that it was secretly some DFA dudes, possibly LCD Soundsystem or Rapture or Shitdisco alumni, but I think they’ve played enough live shows by now that, if it were the case, someone would have blown their cover. So it’s probably just four dudes who don’t like their picture taken. Maybe they’re Amish, like me. Maybe I’m one of them.

You’re going to listen to these tracks and think “This is all electronic Justice / Daft Punk -style bullshit and I have no interest watching people press buttons and turn knobs,” but this is more along the lines of the aforementioned DFA bands. Real synths and drums and guitars, as evidenced in this video. Tigersapien is a rock band that just happens to have a really, really electro-dance-y feel. Here, try some out:
