Sometimes I post a bunch of tracks I like so you can tell me that music hasn’t been any good since the 70s and that if I want to like these newfangled queer musics, I should move to “one ah dem fanciful cities dat still got jobs and cultures and da waterin’ hole fer genes hadn’t done run dry”. This is going to be one of those times.

I have tried, in the past, to keep a running list of SHIT I DIG on this (and on my previous) site. Last year, I got bored a few months in and stopped. This year I might try harder. If you’re ever looking for something new that sounds new that does not sound like classic rock or nineties pop, maybe click on that BEST OF ‘10 in the banner image for some torrenting suggestions. Since we’re almost done with February and I haven’t really mentioned much, I’m going to stick mostly to tracks from the releases I just put up. I’m sure you’re already familiar with some, but please bear with me while I get the rest of the class up to speed.

Best Coast - “Something In The Way”
Lettercamp - “Call it Off”
Beach House - “Walk In The Park”
Future Islands - “Tin Man”
Small Black - “Despicable Dogs” (Washed Out remix)
The Juliets - “This Just In”
Four Tet - “Angel Echoes”
jj - “Into The Light”
High Places - “The Longest Shadows”
Titus Andronicus - “A More Perfect Union”
(Yes I do realize this is a seven-minute song by a guy who can’t sing, from a Civil War naval battle concept album…and that I’m the only one who likes it.)

Best Coast, Beach House and Titus Andronicus (edit: and Small Black) all have upcoming dates in Michigan, in case you like them. Lettercamp and The Juliets will be playing Blowout, in case you like them. The rest, I guess, you’ll just have to be MySpace friends with.
